People used to elbow each other out of the way to be in charge of the music, it was that important to them.

Nowadays, a jukebox can go all night without even a second look; if it hasn’t already been sent to the scrapheap. It’s a crying shame. But the fact of the matter is that the traditional jukebox is no longer fit for the times.

Guests today are used to having an infinite bank of music to choose from – not just the outdated CDs (or records!) that your jukebox is serving up. They want to be able to control the music without having to rustle around for loose change.

People are their own curators

It’s not that people are any less passionate about music than they were 20 or 30 years ago. In fact, figures from the British Phonographic Industry suggests we’re listening to more music than ever before. But how we all consume music today is very different from how it was during the traditional jukebox’s heyday.

In these times of Spotify and Apple Music, people are their own curators. They don’t have to listen to the radio to get the music that they love – they can create their own playlists to ensure they only get the good stuff.

The challenge for venues is to align with what customers are used to and allow them to control the music in a way that is familiar to them in 2020.

Introducing the Angelina

The Angelina from TouchTunes doesn’t just offer guests the chance to play music in a format they’re familiar with, it engages and inspires them like no other jukebox – keeping guests coming back for more.

A touchscreen, app-controlled device, the Angelina resonates with today’s tech-dependent customers. In our increasingly cashless society, it’s so quick and easy for customers to pay via the app or contactless card payments.

Instead of being sat dormant in the corner of the room, the slick Angelina system sits proud on the wall offering guests an unmatched selection of music to choose from. The Angelina’s smart technology learns from the tracks it plays to give your customers more of what they love to hear.

It creates the atmosphere that your customers want – and you intend – without you having to pay for a DJ or karaoke kit. You just choose the playlist and let your customers pick their favourite tunes via the app or contactless payments.

By putting customers in control of their experience, they’ll be more likely to dwell in your venue and spend at your bar. With every play, you get paid – so the jukebox quickly becomes a revenue stream, not a drain.

The jukebox of yesteryear might be dead, but the Angelina now reigns supreme.

What would a custom jukebox look like for your brand? https://touchtunes.co.uk/what-would-a-custom-jukebox-look-like-for-your-brand/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/what-would-a-custom-jukebox-look-like-for-your-brand/#respond Tue, 28 Jan 2020 15:34:31 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=547 When it comes to jukeboxes, we’re breaking the mould… literally.

As well as dragging the jukebox out of the noughties and into the smartphone era, we’re now creating customised machines that are in keeping with a venue’s décor and branding.

We’ve demonstrated the 19.5” touchscreen unit incorporated into surrounds including a mirror, a pool table and a wooden barrel for multiple-venue brands. The Barrel Edition was so popular in the US, it is now a standard product.

The Fusion Music System is unlike anything else on the market and, as a result, has attracted plenty of positive press. At this year’s Entertainment, Attractions & Gaming International Expo in London, the Fusion Barrel Edition won the prize for ‘Most Creative Product on Show’.

A jukebox in your image

If you’ve ever thought that a jukebox doesn’t fit with your aesthetic or isn’t unique enough to represent your brand, the Fusion Music System is for you.

We understand that our Angelina jukebox might not work for everyone. Some venues have such a strong brand identity, our regular machine might look out of place.

Take the Fusion Barrel Edition. Its authentic wooden barrel exterior is ideal for breweries, brewpubs, taprooms, whiskey bars, alehouses and other venues that are clad with wooden boarding.

Contact us about design options – you can ‘frame’ the Fusion system in any style of your choosing – whether that be an advertising icon – like a Cola can, or your brand name/style projected as a surround.

Latest in jukebox tech

A rigid frame system with mounting anchor points keeps everything safe and secure, while the tech and components harnessed within the jukebox are taken from the Angelina.

That means you’ll enjoy everything that’s great about the Angelina ( there is no standard music-driven lighting when it’s in Fusion form) –  user-friendly interface, compatibility with the TouchTunes app, contactless payment, minimal servicing needs, customisable playlists – encased in a design that customers will identify as your own.

More than just a nice feature

TouchTunes jukeboxes are much more than just a nice-to-look-at feature in your venue. The Fusion Music System delivers a revolutionary jukebox experience that keeps customers coming back for more – paying you as it plays, while extending dwell time in your venue. So this reinvention of the jukebox quickly becomes a revenue stream, not a drain.

With the Fusion Music System, you no longer have to choose between creating a customer-friendly atmosphere and staying on-brand.

Let your imagination run riot about what a jukebox could look like for your brand. And then share your thoughts with us.

Get the party started https://touchtunes.co.uk/get-the-party-started/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/get-the-party-started/#respond Tue, 17 Dec 2019 11:35:22 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=527 If you ask someone “What do you look for in a pub or bar?”, “Atmosphere” is likely to be one of the top responses. Music is a crucial element when it comes to setting the party mood. But how do you know what your customers want to hear?

The answer is actually very simple: get them to choose!

Experience music in a new light

The Angelina from TouchTunes delivers a revolutionary jukebox experience that creates a buzzing party atmosphere and brings people together to play all their favourite hits – past and present. It’s a sociable, fun way to liven up any venue and is sure to become a real talking point.

More music, more rounds

Although the jukebox is a traditional pub feature, it’s still very much valid today; with the Angelina, pubs will once again experience what made jukeboxes so popular in decades past. The Angelina jukebox not only makes money in itself, but by putting customers in control of their music experience, they’ll be happier and more inclined to dwell in your venue and spend at your bar as a result. Why would they want to go anywhere else? They’re much more likely to return in the future and tell their friends too.

You set the mood, they choose the songs

Although your customers are in control of the songs, you retain an element of control too: we curate playlists to ensure the music picked is appropriate for your venue’s atmosphere. Our expert music programmers curate a wide selection of playlists to help users find the tunes that get them in the party spirit. We also offer a selection of themed background music channels for locations to choose from.

Appeals to the on-demand generations

Portability and convenience dictate how people, especially younger generations, listen to audio content.

We are a streaming generation. It’s what we’re used to, and what we’ve come to expect.

When we’re at home, we have control over many things – from smart meters and bulbs to on- demand TV. We choose what we listen to and when (just ask Alexa!), so why should it be any different when we’re out? Just ask Angelina!

Let your customers be the DJ – not you

Remove the guesswork that comes with the old-hat method of pre-choosing background music based on what you think your customers want to hear. Your customers know what they want to hear. They know whether its Sean Paul or Spandau Ballet that’ll get them up on their feet. The Angelina from TouchTunes allows venue owners to create a real buzz by getting customers involved in the experience.

Touchscreen and app-controlled, the Angelina resonates with today’s tech-savvy guests – it’s quick and easy for customers to pay via the app or contactless card payments.

So, are you ready to bring the party atmosphere to your venue? Contact us today for more information or a free demo!

Make music pay this Christmas https://touchtunes.co.uk/make-music-pay-this-christmas/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/make-music-pay-this-christmas/#respond Thu, 07 Nov 2019 17:12:42 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=470 Nothing says it’s December like Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’, Mariah’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’, or just about anything by Bing Crosby. Everyone has their favourite Christmas songs – Scrooges aside – and, come party season, you need to make sure your guests can pick the tunes that’ll get them in the spirit.

But letting guests choose their festive favourites isn’t just a case of indulging them – it can help you make more money this Christmas too. How much money you make depends on the jukebox you opt for.

Not all jukeboxes are created equal

Whether or not you have a jukebox installed already – in the times of Spotify and Apple Music, it’s about putting customers in control in a way that they’re familiar with.

The Angelina digital jukebox puts song selection at your guests’ fingertips. The 24” touchscreen unit or the app will be instantly recognisable to your customers, so they’ll not think twice about swiping along to their favourite hit from 2019 or an ultimate Christmas classic. Contactless payment compatibility makes it even easier for guests to pay for their music selections.

This is what we mean when we say that not all jukeboxes are created equal. The Angelina is to traditional jukeboxes what Spotify is to CDs – generating 40% more income on average when compared to other digital jukeboxes.

Bringing plenty of Christmas cheer

With guests enjoying the Angelina’s company, they’ll spend longer in your venue soaking up the merry atmosphere. Not only will there be money going into the jukebox, there’ll be more money going into the till. By putting customers in control of their experience, they’ll be more likely to dwell in your venue and spend at your bar.

And unlike DJs who need paying – and don’t always play what guests want to hear – the Angelina will be an extra revenue stream for your business: with every play, you get paid.

When you set the festive mood and they choose the tune, why would they want to go anywhere else? They’ll be revelling in some serious Christmas cheer – and so will you.

A jukebox is for life, not just for Christmas

Hot on the heels of Christmas parties are New Year’s celebrations. Once again, the Angelina comes into its own – continuing to serve customers even on the busiest nights of the year for venues like yours.

The TouchTunes app opens up the jukebox to everybody who wants to play it – not just those who are nearest.

With the ability to pick their songs from the comfort of their seat, customers have more opportunities to find and play the music they want to hear, past and present. But don’t worry, if you’ve got a real aversion to ‘Auld Lang Syne’, with the Angelina, you’re in total control of the playlist your customers choose from – it can be Prince’s ‘1999’ all the way.

Make the Angelina the centre of attention at your venue all year round. As users make their selections through the app throughout the Christmas period, they’ll earn free song credits and other perks. So, plenty of incentive to come back to your venue time and time again in the new year.

With the first Christmas party only weeks away, contact us now to find out how quickly we can get the Angelina up and running for you.

Why Putting Guests In Control Of Your Atmosphere Could Really Pay Off https://touchtunes.co.uk/why-putting-guests-in-control-of-your-atmosphere-could-really-pay-off-guide/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/why-putting-guests-in-control-of-your-atmosphere-could-really-pay-off-guide/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2019 13:05:11 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=364 https://touchtunes.co.uk/why-putting-guests-in-control-of-your-atmosphere-could-really-pay-off-guide/feed/ 0 TouchTunes’ Angelina jukebox touches down in the UK https://touchtunes.co.uk/touchtunes-angelina-jukebox-touches-down-in-the-uk/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/touchtunes-angelina-jukebox-touches-down-in-the-uk/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2019 10:04:53 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=358 When most people think of a jukebox, in their mind’s eye they see a vintage machine that would look out of place in most modern venues. As beautiful as some of these traditional jukeboxes are to look at, they’re not really driving any value in terms of customer experience or business revenue.

You might say, if ever there was a product that was in need of a digital transformation, it’s the jukebox.

Enter TouchTunes.

Our Angelina digital jukebox has proved to be a huge hit in the USA where it sits in more than 65,000 locations. We’re now bringing this revolutionary ‘social jukebox’ to the UK.

A jukebox built for the smartphone generation

You only need to look at the Angelina to see that this isn’t your average noughties jukebox. While customers will instantly recognise it as a jukebox, its appearance bears a similarity to another device: the tablet computer.

This is no coincidence.

It’s no secret that we’re all glued to our handheld technology. According to a report from UK telecoms regulator Ofcom, people in the UK, on average, check their smartphone once every 12 minutes during their waking hours.

I think it’s fair to say that handheld technology is now dominating the way we live on a day-to-day basis with 78% of people saying they could not live without it which, shockingly enough, is not hard to believe. We use handheld technology for both work and pleasure meaning unless we “accidentally” leave it at home, we’re never actually away from them.

What we’re getting at is that handheld tech like tablets are second nature to people. That was present in our minds in the design of the Angelina. We wanted to create a jukebox for the smartphone generation.

Encouraging customers to stay longer

The Angelina doesn’t just attract the right kind of attention, it engages and inspires customers like no other jukebox.

With music-driven lighting, powered by innovative algorithms, the Angelina is a somewhat hypnotic proposition for customers.

The ultimate upside of a visually appealing and engaging piece of tech in your venue is that customers will be encouraged to stay for longer; putting more money into the till, while paying to play the songs they want to hear via contactless payments.

Customers are in control of their own experience – that’s something that venues have to find a way to enable, especially when it comes to music. In these times of Spotify and Apple Music, people are their own curators. They don’t have to listen to the radio to get the music that they love – they can create their own playlists to ensure they only get the good stuff.

The TouchTunes smartphone app means customers can line up their next song from the comfort of their chairs. The Angelina’s smart technology learns from the tracks it plays to give your customers more of what they love to hear.

As a venue, you can curate playlists, ensuring that all musical choices made by customers are in keeping with your theme. The last thing you want is Meatloaf playing on vegan night…

More plays, fewer costs

Creating a winning atmosphere that appeals to your customers can often be expensive. Thinking just about the music for a minute, there’s the expense of paying for a DJ or a performer to think about. Or, if you’re going to let customers provide the entertainment, you’re going to need to buy or hire some karaoke kit.

Even background music can be costly due to the music licences that must be obtained whenever you want to play a tune in your venue to eradicate the silence.

In the case of TuneTunes, we take care of the licensing arrangements, so you don’t have to. Straight away, you’re cutting your costs. By removing the reliance on DJs and performers, you’re cutting your costs further. And by getting paid for every time someone plays the jukebox, you’re generating more revenue.

In addition, The Angelina will also generate goodwill within your customers, meaning they’re likely to stay in your venue for longer. The venue is nothing without its customers, so having a tool like the Angelina that can unite both, it’s venue and customers is priceless.

We’re confident we’ve built the world’s best jukebox.

It’s a big call, we know.

Why not let us give you a demonstration to see why we’re so sure? After seeing the Angelina, you’ll never have an image of a tired, old jukebox in your head again.

TouchTunes app proves to be a game-changer for jukeboxes https://touchtunes.co.uk/touchtunes-app-proves-to-be-a-game-changer-for-jukeboxes/ https://touchtunes.co.uk/touchtunes-app-proves-to-be-a-game-changer-for-jukeboxes/#respond Mon, 16 Sep 2019 14:17:53 +0000 https://touchtunes.co.uk/?p=350 Smartphone users love an app. According to the latest market data issued by App Annie, new app installations hit a record high of 30.3 billion globally in Q2, an increase of 1.9 billion over the same quarter in 2018.

Basically, if there’s an app available that serves a purpose, people will download it.

At TouchTunes, we’ve seen first-hand how consumers have come to rely on them. The TouchTunes app allows your customers to pay and play music on the Angelina, our latest digital jukebox, via an app on their phone. To date the app has generated more than nine million downloads.

Here’s why we think the TouchTunes app has proven to be something of a game-changer within the jukebox setting…

Millennial magnet

Millennials have grown up in a more technologically driven world, and they’re in their comfort zone when using a well-thought-out app. In fact, according to a survey from The Manifest, 21% of millennials open apps more than 50 times per day, compared to just 2% of Baby Boomers.

The Angelina jukebox is the latest development for the modern age, and the TouchTunes app is sure to tick all of their boxes: it’s convenient, contactless, quick, and, above all, it’s an exciting experience in itself (and, let’s not forget, 78% of millennials prefer experiences over things).

People aren’t carrying cash like they used to

One of the issues with the traditional jukebox is that it was dependent on patrons carrying cash. While this was not a problem in the noughties, people nowadays are carrying less and less cash.

In a survey conducted last year by First Bus, one in five Brits said they now never carry cash. The research also found that 44% of people have been left unable to pay for something because physical cash was the only form of payment accepted.

Not only does the app allow patrons to make digital payments, the physical jukebox allows for contactless payment.

No cash, no problem.

No queueing at the jukebox

Of course, the notion of people queueing to play the jukebox is a bit of a stretch – but if someone was to spend a long time choosing their songs it could put some customers off making their own music selections.

The TouchTunes app opens up the jukebox to everybody who wants to play it – not just those who are nearest.

With the ability to pick their songs from the comfort of their seat, customers have more opportunities to find and play the music they want to hear. They can even ‘jump the queue’ with the app’s Fast Pass feature.

Perks for regular customers

Consumers love loyalty programmes. In research conducted by YouGov last year, in partnership with rewards agency Mando-Connect, it was revealed that three quarters (77%) of the UK population are members of a loyalty programme, with seven in ten (72%) Brits believing they are a good way to reward customers and three in five (59%) thinking that all brands should offer them.

Among consumers using loyalty programmes, almost half (47%) spend more with a brand whose scheme they are a member of.

Why is this research relevant in the context of the TouchTunes app? Well, as users make their selections through the app, they will earn free song credits and other perks. It’s not a million miles away from a loyalty programme.

Those song credits will remain on the app, ready to be used at any mobile-enabled TouchTunes location within the country they were earned or purchased in.

Customers crave personalisation

Finally, the app allows patrons to personalise their jukebox experience. The app learns from users’ play history and preferences – not dissimilar to the personalised experience they get from services like Spotify and Apple Music – to provide some song recommendations, as a way of keeping things fresh.

And speaking of Spotify and Apple Music, the app also allows users to import their playlists, artists, and songs straight from their phone. This means they can continue listening to their favourite music on the jukebox in your venue.

The easier it is for users to find the music they like through the app, the more they will play the jukebox. And with every play, you earn.

TouchTunes has turned playing the jukebox on its head. And patrons love it, as the app reviews on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store testify.

Bringing the TouchTunes app together with the Angelina, you’ve got yourself a compelling and relevant experience for pub goers.
